My Lomography Fisheye

My Lomo Fisheye
This is a camera I received as a gift for my birthday earlier this year. It’s a film camera with a fisheye lens that can get a view of 170 degrees around. Although film cameras are a rare sight these days, I really enjoy taking photos with this camera. I like the mystery of not knowing how the photo will look until you get it developed, and some photos can turn out really spontaneous. Here are some of my favourite photos that I’ve taken with the camera so far.

hug me
A very cute seal mascot with a good message! “Hug me! Don’t club me!” In support of the PETA. I spotted this guy while going to grab lunch on Stephen Ave one day and just had to get a photo of him (or her)!

stampede park iv
A shot of the Ferris Wheel at the Calgary Stampede. This year’s wheel seemed smaller than the one they had in previous years.

Columns
The camera is great for taking photos in tight areas and getting everything in sight! This one was taken while walking by The Bay in downtown. In the photo are some of my co-workers! mwaha

Tower
The Calgary Tower looks so short in this pic in relation to the Palliser hotel. I think this is a pretty cool perspective of the city’s landmark!

Stephen
Those interesting sculptures on Stephen Avenue. My friend thinks they look like giant spatulas haha

on a stroll
This looks like it could be anywhere in the world. The city bus kind of gives it away it’s in Calgary though. I really like when streets/sidewalks are lined with trees on both sides, it’s so nice to drive/walk through!

The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn
Here is a little something that I created using Photoshop. I’m definitely a sucker for all things fantasy related. Fantasy art, movies, games, stories.. Magic, unicorns, faeries, wizards, elves, hobbits… You name it, I love it all! You can bet I’m super excited to see the new Harry Potter movie tomorrow! In this post I’ll go through all the stages that the above image went through before looking like that! Read on to see the progress from beginning to end. Enjoy! (:

Forest Image White Horse
These are the two photos that I started with, a nice forest shot and a pretty white horse. I found these stock images on DeviantArt.com. There are lots of quality stock images to choose from, and it’s free!

Forest with more depth
I was feeling that the photo of the forest was a little flat, so I’ve added the above forest photo to the background to give it a little more depth. Check out the differences below:

Forest Stage Beginning Forest Stage 1
Big difference huh?!

Forest Stage 3 Forest Stage 4
After I was happy with the background image, I used the channel mixer to make the colors a bit more dreamy looking. Then I added in the white horsey in and adjusted the levels a little bit.

Horse Stage 1
Here’s a closer view of the horse. Not looking very magical yet..

Horse Stage 2
I added a white glow behind the horse, you can just feel it’s power amplifying. It’s about to go super saiyan on you! AHH!

Horse Final
The Horsey finally leveled up into Unicorn! I added it’s horn just by drawing it inside Photoshop and I’ve also added more white glow. At this point, I am finished with the unicorn and just need to add some finishing touches. I fixed up the colors a bit more by adding a gradient fill on top and then added a clouds layer on top of that to give it that misty look! Take a look at the final image below:

Do you believe in unicorns?

The Start of Something…

Start of Something

Ahh, it’s here, at last! I’m so excited to finally have my new site up and running! My last site was something that I put together for school and I felt super guilty because I didn’t really do anything with it after I graduated last April. Shame on me, I know, but I have a good feeling about this new design, I’ve definitely put more time and planning into it. Let me know what you think of it (even if you hate it!) Please note that is best viewed in Firefox, because I haven’t really tested it in other browsers yet, other than IE6. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that it shows up okay for you! Tell me if you see anything that appears broken or weird. I apologize for the lack of content currently, I know it’s pretty boring right now. I will be tweaking it a little bit here and there over the next week or so, adding more content, features and such. So stay tuned!

This site is something very important to me. It’s going to be a place for me to be creative, to connect with others, to share my life, interests, and experiences with you all. It’s exactly what I need to keep the creative gears in my head turning and keep me motivated! So what exactly will this site be about? Well, all sorts of things! Art, music, photography, design, quantum physics. Who knows? This is my blog and I’ll do what I want. : )

I’m a little late to this blogging business, but it’s better late than never! So please be gentle with me for I am but a mere blogging newb.  This writing stuff will get easier right? I can’t think of what I want to say, I’m sleepy and it’s taking a while for me to write this. Which in turn is causing me to launch this site later than expected! Eeek, sorry everyone! Anyway, I really hope you like my new site and hope you will follow, comment, contribute, inspire and be inspired! This is the start of something amazing.

much love, Tiffany

ps. I totally was not thinking about this song when I wrote this blog title, but it just reminded me of it when I typed it again. “This could be the start of something new. It feels so right to be here with you, ohhh” Haha how embarrassingly awesome.
