36 Servings Prep: 15 min. Bake: 10 min./batch + cooling

Ingredients

2 packages (18-1/4 ounces each) devil’s food cake mix
1 cup canola oil
4 eggs

FILLING:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
2-1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon Spice Islands® pure vanilla extract

Directions

• In a large bowl, combine the cake mixes, oil and eggs until well blended. Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Do not flatten.
• Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to wire racks (cookies will flatten as they cool).
• In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Beat in sugar and vanilla until smooth. Spread on the bottom of half of the cookies; top with remaining cookies. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: about 6 dozen.

The recipe required two packages of Devil Food Cake Mix but I only had one package so I halved the recipe! I didn’t even need a mixer for this recipe, I just mixed it by hand.

The cream cheese icing was so yummy. These are the cookie halves when they’re done baking! I may have over baked them a little bit ><

What are your favorite cookies?

I took these photos on my lunch break today. It’s really nice to work downtown, there’s always lots of things going on!

Today I tried one of the food trucks that sell Vietnamese food. I got the beef pho! Mmmmm it was actually better than I expected it to be. Not as good as a restaurant would be but definitely worth trying!

Now that it’s December, I can finally start my advent calendars that I’ve been so excited to open! I have two calendars this year, one of them is LEGO Star Wars and the other is Purdy’s chocolate.

The Lego one is so awesome because you get to build a different toy each day! The chocolate one is great too, so much better than the cheap ones from the grocery store. It’s like having a Kinder Surprise everyday except the toys and chocolate are 100x better hahah. What do you do to get yourself in the holiday spirit? Have you finished Christmas shopping yet? I haven’t even started! Eeek!

I want to show you all of the different designs I’ve had on this site, ever since I created it in 2007.


2007 – School Project Design

This was the very first design that I made for this site. It was a school project where we had to create our own web portfolios. I’ll share with you guys another time on how this domain name originated! Moving on..

2008 – Portfolio Showcase Design

Nearing the last semester of my program at SAIT, we were to present all of our best work at the student showcase where potential employers would come to see your stuff! I created this new site design for the showcase and it went along with my printed portfolio, DVD portfolio and business card.

2009-2010 – Blog Design

After graduating and finding a job, I left my site untouched for a very long time until I finally updated it and turned it into a full out blog. In previous designs, it was more of a portfolio with a little tiny blog section and it really didn’t get updated very often. So my solution was to turn my site into a blog using wordpress (which is awesome by the way). The first year of blogging went well but in 2010, I really slacked in my site updates, which I feel terrible about. That is why one of my goals this year is to update and maintain this blog regularly! I had a lot of fun with this old design and will miss it dearly but I’m very happy with the simplicity of my new one.

Let me know your thoughts on this design, as well as what you think my past designs! I feel like my style has stayed pretty similar in all of the designs. Lots of the same colors/themes.

There were tons of people dressed up! I’m not very sure what’s going on here but the girl was some kind of slave zombie Princess Leia. Interesting..

Stormtroopers are inevitable at every con.

Furries are also inevitable, but I just don’t understand them..

I saw some very nice Street Fighter cosplays while I was there. Here’s a Juri on the left and M. Bison on the right! At the expo, they had a copy of Super Street Fighter IV available to play a few days before it’s official release. Artists from UDON Entertainment were featured guests too and they had lots of Street Fighter artwork and books!

Here’s an artwork that I saw for sale from one of the UDON artists, Omar Dogan. It’s Ibuki from Street Fighter but she was drawn wearing a Lolita outfit! I love it so much and really wish I got it when I saw it. If I had gone again on Sunday I would have but I didn’t end up going, ah well~

A remote controlled R2D2 that a lot of people were taking pictures with. It moved and made sounds which was pretty neat.

Me in my Pikachu outfit with artist Camilla d’Errico. I was surprised that she was at the expo, I’ve been fan of hers for a while and I had no idea she was going to be there. I was happy to meet her and made sure I bought something at her booth while I was there!

A vinyl toy of my favourite Vancouver 2010 Olympic Mascot, Quatchi! I didn’t get this expo though, I had it before and brought it to be signed since I heard the artists (meomi) were going to be there!
